Walking ability have a strong relationshop to health in elderly poeple.
However, daily walking ability assessment is difficult
because it is conventionally measured only in medical facilities or elderly house by home-visit care.
In this work, we propose a system for estimating walking ability that is easy to install in home.
This system is designed practically by using a inexpensive distance sensor array device,
which allows to estimate walking speed and step length.
We conducted an experiment on 14 elderly people.
In the experiment, subjects walked with speed of 0.48-1.05m/s and step length of 0.29-0.58m.
The experiment shows that the Mean Relative Error (MRE) were 6.7% in walking speed and 3.9% in step length by our algorithm.
